Being Single is Smarter Than Being in the Wrong Relationship

Some people marry their one and only true love, while others end up with someone that they are meant to be with. There is no secret or manual to knowing who your perfect mate will be. Sometimes, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. There are, however, things we can do to try to prevent ourselves from entrusting our love to the wrong person.

First and foremost, we must not rush into relationships and allow nature to take it's course. It is very important that you take the time to get to know one another. Do you share similar interests? Are your personalities compatible? Make sure that you are equally yoked and that you connect emotionally, spiritually, and sexually. You need to know how your partner channels their anger, disappointment, and grief. Can you handle them during these difficult times?

Secondly, never settle. If you find yourself crying and stressing over your relationship or you are sad more often than you are happy, you are wasting time in a relationship that is not going to succeed. So many people rush into marriage or serious relationships without realizing how detrimental being in the wrong relationship can be. Unhealthy relationships have caused people to lose their minds, fall into depression, and believe that they are unworthy of being loved.

One thing I will say is that no relationship is perfect and sometimes life just happens. Sometimes couples are completely happy in their relationship, and all it takes is a crisis to occur, and the relationship comes crashing down. It's during these difficult times that the true strength of your bond and understanding of one another is tested. This is why it's important to be spiritually connected to your partner, so when a crisis or tragedy hits, your spouse will open up to you instead of shutting down. Understanding your partner goes much deeper than just knowing what time their favorite show comes on. If you don't really know your spouse, how can you truly love them? This is why it's necessary to take things slowly and get to know one another during the dating period to ensure that you know who you are devoting your life to. A couple that truly understands one another will be better equipped to deal with life's curve balls that cause many couples to break.

So you see, being single is not all that bad. Yes, it gets lonely at times, but you can rest easy knowing that you are not in a lost relationship, and you are not wasting any of your precious love on someone who is undeserving. When you are ready, God will place the right person in your path, and you will take you time to get to know this person because you know your love is rare.
